Port Authority wants you to try on their 501's... sort of. Mimicking the Levi's jeans ad campaign, PAT is attempting to draw attention to their new 501 North Shore-Downtown-Oakland bus that will operate weekdays beginning June 22. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the new route will be a time and money-saver for many people, due to the fact that it will be PAT's only bus route regularly travelling on Forbes and Fifth Avenues. The 501 will use the current 16U North Shore bus route and revive the discontinued 96E Stadium bus route, creating a single route through Downtown and continuing into Oakland, from 5:42 to 10:10 a.m. and 1:51 to 7:32 p.m. on weekdays. ![]() map taken from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette During those times when the 501 isn't in service, the 16U will operate in a similar manner as it does now, between Downtown and the North Side campus of the Community College of Allegheny County. The 501 trip, from start to finish (Reedsdale Street on the North Shore to Forbes Avenue at Schenley Drive in Oakland), will take about half an hour. Visit the OnTV Bulletin Archive. |
