hile not the best way to end a tumultous year of Superbowl defeat, floods, and police-related trials...
admittance, like confession, is good for the soul.
oe Cusick, a Pittsburgh city Councilman, has again admitted that he has a drug and alcohol abusing problem. Previously, Cusick had gone through alcohol abuse rehabilitation three times. One of his other vices, substance-wise, includes crack cocaine. After a period of uncertainty on his part, Cusick has since checked himself into a rehabilitation center, and has decided not to seek re-election.
n December 19th, Cusick met with Mayor Murphy, council President Jim Ferlo, and Councilman Dan Onorato, in which he agreed that he would enter a drug rehabilitaion program and would not seek re-election. Over the next few days, Cusick remained silent and apparently did not wish to adhere to the outlined plans of the meeting. A week and a half later of dodging phone calls and reporting that he had other board meetings to attend to, Cusick finally complied to his promise and entered himself into an out-of-state rehabilitation center.
lthough confident in his chances to be re-elected earlier in the year, Cusick is now whistling a different tune. These hopes seem moot as drug and alcohol abuse, frequent council meeting absences, and overall lackluster performance in his responsibilities have brought his career as a council member to a halt.
