Fraud Suspect wants to talk to wife..too bad

The former Marshall oil executive -- John Iannone -- arrested last month on federal fraud charges in Des Moines, Iowa wants to speak with his family in order to explain his peculiar actions for the past 3 1/2 years.

However, an attorney for Iannone's wife, Donna, said she didn't want to talk with him.

53-year old Iannone disappeared on January 11th, 1994, after leaving his van at the Pittsburgh International Airport. Authorities found blood and bullet casings inside the car but determined that the scene was rigged... a fake.

It turns out that after leaving Pittsburgh, Iannone proceeded to Denver, where he made several acquaintances, including a girlfriend who met him through a personal ad and knew him as the pseudonym of Wayne D. Hamilton. One couple from Denver gave Iannone at least $80,000 to invest in oil in Texas.

Now he's back, and wants to reconcile with his family.

Donna Iannone still lives in the Pittsburgh area, and is not interested with any reconciliation whatsoever.

In the beginning of this year, a federal grand jury returned a 13-count indictment that accused Iannone of defrauding investors out of a cool $470,000. The indictment, which charges him with mail fraud and interstate transportation of stolen property, was not made public until July 11th.
