In a National Honor Society induction cermony held on March 25, Ambridge Area High School students Amy Stolar, 18, and Jamie Huwar,16, were ordered to go home and change into dresses. Apparently, the pantsuits they were wearing weren't appropriate. The two teenagers refused the request, which they thought sexist, and ended up being sent to gym class. However, three weeks later, on April 17, Stolar and Huwar (both wearing the same suits) got a formal apology from the Ambridge Area school board. The board also voted unanimously to hold the ceremony for 80 inductees over again so that the two could attend. The date for the redone ceremony has not been set yet.Visit the OnTV Bulletin Archive. |
